Spawn protection

Hey all,



I was wondering what your thoughts are about spawn protection. Lately I noticed that I was killed again even before I realised I was melted. Spawn protection of 1 or 2 seconds will do in my opinion. Smile

if u guys come with an great idea i will build the server, im 100% sure it will be empty all the time, but i wanna give it a try.... i can also give someone permission to the server and he can create a server himself.... its all possible.

Me and my friends often go to the sniper/rifle only server with custom maps. Unfortunately there are only a handful of people that play but this is what I loved most back in the old days. Mods like spawn protection (1 or 2 secs), freeze-tag, teleporting etc. 
I can't remember what the mod was called that all the players get random weapons and get stuck with that weapon until they die and get melted again.

I like the idea I am just not sure if there is an audience for it Smile

BTW, how do I turn off the E-mail notification of this forums Blum 3

btw what u guys think of teleports next to dangerous spawns? i really like the ones UWS server has, it avoids lot of spawnkills and for skilled FT players u can navigate to frozen mates in shorter time. For me at least it adds tons of fun and excitement that im never stuck or cornered as last player, but i can always get out of situation if plan the move correctly Blum 3

At first i felt teleports are stupid, because it messes up map awareness, in a way u can no longer tell the approximate location of enemys, but once u know all the places where someone can teleport its not so bad. Protected spawns and quicker navigation across map should be more important.

Teleporting including roofs and 'secret' floor layers (like Stalingrad)? Smile

Yes Kirby, I like that idea of the teleports having played in UWS myself it does help against being spawn killed!

yeh in 15 or whatever years they managed to do something right, a fun, well balanced server with teleports + scopes for all weapons. Id take away tube tho, and permission to roof. And dismiss half of their admins including CL but thats another story :d

i imagine if we had equal EU counterpart ran by luv members it may be more popular than classic freezie. People like to have fun and see action, i see less and less folks who could run for hours just to find some enemys. Also is much easier to start up a server if u have a big map and u can quickly get to each other. And its a big thing in my op. that u dont have to wait too long for something to happen. There is reason why most FFAs are running just Stali, and they have no activity issues. Especially if they work on some fun mods like anubis or wacky settings like todesplace xD

maybe if increase time of melt then round is finished sooner, often some naap instead of melting will just camp or hide, ok he may unfreeze 1 or 2 only to extend the round pointlessly Biggrin If its 10v1 alive its very rare u see a come back from the other team. But then again fast melts are better than slow melt and risk to be bashed by greens Blum 3

I think the funpart of the game is when ur losing and get spawnfragged.. iis to unfreeze like crazy and try to get out of the situation, i really like that part...... @ kirby, i can always make the second server 20 max people.....

Think reality is if u run a server with more than 20 slots u cant expect people not doing spawnkills. Dont think it should be forbidden at all, anti camp is there so u cant sit in one spot anyway.

Maps are as big as they are and only can accomodate certain number of players. My opinion is always they same, 20 slot FT for mohaa default maps is plenty, as we used to have in the old days on {::TRL::} freezie which was on top. I duno what are arguments against less slots but for any good player this 15v15 mess is a turn off, spawnkills is just one of numerous issues, second being that best players do not get always get highest  scores, u can just camp a busy area and u will get way more kills than someone who risks and pushes. Its actually more of a reason why i dont even join server if its too busy Blum 3

Our own members spawn kill like mad, Lil John comes to mind, hes alwys hitting hiigh scores on Village and Remagen, beacause the teams all spawn in the same place. If someone spawns infront of you and you happen to be there, your instinct is to shoot, hence the spawn killing. But on the plus side at least someone can melt you quick, takes others forever.
